Charlie Gunningham – CEO at Business News

From a Ruff ‘n’ Ready busker to CEO!

Originally from the UK, Charlie worked in Singapore for 8 years before landing in Perth in 1997.

Graduating as top MBA student from UWA Business School in 1999, Charlie co-founded aussiehome.com, an online real estate business. He ran the business for 10 years until it was acquired by REIWA (Real Estate Institute WA) in 2010. He then ran reiwa.com before joining Business News in 2013, becoming CEO in 2015.

Charlie is a big supporter of the startup tech community in Perth, writes about it in Business News and is an adjunct lecturer in eBusiness at UWA Business School.

Charlie chose Perth to be his home after falling in love with the City during his first visit here in 1991. That was as a busker with a band called Ruff ‘n’ Ready. (Charlie is 2nd from the right!) He has changed roles somewhat over the years and I’m sure we will hear all about it when he presents to the bob group. Charlie has promised NOT to sing and he will NOT be dressed in pink! Charlie’s topic:

Winning new business in a tough market

– What’s worked for me, what’s not

– Using technology, social media, websites, CRMs and databases

– Networking, building your profile

– Building a great long term client base, investing in people, processes and great relationships

– Some tools we have at Business News

This will be an interactive session to discuss ideas and answer your questions.
